Amy Nelson, Founder and President

President and founder Amy B. Nelson was born and raised between Hong Kong, New York City, and the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts, and has taken the combination of her varied backgrounds to develop her own individual approach to Style Design. This approach is defined by her philosophy – which is to educate, enhance and empower her clients to curate their visual brand and help define their sense of genuine style.

Amy’s own sense of style is a combination of exposure to some of the world’s most respected fashion icons and her vast experience in the fashion industry. This has resulted in Amy creating a blended and down-to-earth approach in teaching her clients to develop their own unique and very personal sense of themselves.Amy uses this special skill to create ward- robes that go from civi meetings to the conference room. She has also translated this approach to a series of seminars and corporate consultations, designed for internal and external marketing, visual brand development, and enhancing one’s personal and corporate image.

Amy further connects with her clients by participating in speaking engagements for retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Tootsies. She has joined panels such as The Brand Shop, as well as participated in radio interviews for Georgia Public Broadcasting. Additionally, Amy has written numerous articles on fashion as a regular contributor for InTown Paper, and has been highlighted in Atlanta Woman Magazine, The Atlantan, and Buckhaven Magazines. She has also been a regular guest on Channel 11’s talkshow, Atlanta and Company. This spring, Amy launched “Style Chats by Style Design” on Facebook Live, a six-week series highlighting both established and up-and-coming members of the fashion industry.

Amy began her career in 1987 in New York City working for Chanel, Inc. in its accessories division, oversee- ing the businesses of clients such as the Chanel Boutiques, Bergdorf Goodman, I. Magnin, Neiman Marcus, and other specialty stores across the country. In 1992, Amy launched Saks Fifth Avenue’s exclusive personal shopping service, The Fifth Avenue Club, in Atlanta. As the Club’s Director, Amy grew it to be one of the top clubs nationwide and grew the business to 250 clients. In 2001, Amy left Saks and launched Style Design. From 2017-2019, in conjunction with Style Design, Amy launched and ran the personal shopping services, The Service by Style Design, at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta.
